my teeth bleaching kit from the dentist hurts and bleached my gums. what should i do?
i am a first time bleacher and i don’t know what to do! i have the trays and the bleach that i got from my dentist. i did as directed and immediately my gums and certain parts of teeth started to hurt. it hurt so bad i had to take them off after a few minutes and then i noticed that my gums were turning white. it has been about 10 minutes, my gums are normal again….but what should i do, what does this mean?!
You may be using too much whitening material – if it is coming out of the trays onto your gums, that’s too much. Whitening will make your teeth sensitive in general, but its only temporary. Try using a high-flouride gel (most dental offices carry them) in the trays for 1/2 hour prior to whitening; this will help desensitize.
That is a common symptom. I had that problem after using Crest White Strips. I think you either have to deal with the pain or deal with off-white teeth… unfortunately.

Not to worry…..the bleach contains acid, this acid what it does it burns a small part of your enamel (the outer layer of your tooth) and thats what makes your teeth whiter. Literally your loosing a small part of enamel.
The acid touched your gums, and it started burning them, and they turned white b/c it was a reaction from the burn the bleached caused. It usually does go away if the burn wasnt that serious. Drink plenty of water, preferably cold.
Bleaching teeth is totally contra-indicated in people with sensitive teeth! So if you have have sensitive teeth, obviously stop using your kit, and if not reduce the amount of bleach you are putting in your trays.
Remember the bleach destroys a small amount of enamel, and people with sensitive teeth need all the enamel they need.
Hope it helps
