i want tooth whitener or tooth bleach but i dont know which one to choose out of all the choices out there..any ideas?

Did anyone receive internal bleaching of a tooth after root canal? Im getting one on my front tooth and want to find the best procedure to hide a darkened tooth. Did internal bleaching give a satisfactory colour, or is another method (veneer etc.) necessary. I don’t trust cosmetic websites that promise miracles. Thanks.

You can have it internally bleached to prevent discoloration. However, a crown is normally recommended for root canaled teeth b/c they become brittle b/c they are dead after the root canal and many times will break off years later b/c they are so brittle. The worry about this is when root canaled teeth break they often break down the root and then have to be removed. All that money becomes wasted. Do yourself a favor and get the crown right after the root canal.

Actually my dentist performed root canal surgery and my tooth is now discoloured. i am thinking about bleaching rather than veneers,crowns etc

Bleaching is a possibility; most likely, it will have to be internal bleaching. This is a process where your RCT is blocked off to a level below your visible gum line, and bleach is placed in. the technique is also called ‘walking bleach’, since the bleach will be placed into your tooth (blocked with a temporary filling), and you would return to the office in a couple of days until it is the color you like.

If so, please let me know how your results were, how recently have, where you had them done and how do they look now?
Whoops – I wanted to ask those folk that have/had tetracycline stained teeth.

Ive had mine done at the mall. They were offering a treatment that involves this ultraviolet light that shines in your mouth while you wear a tray. Overall i would say it was a good experience and my teeth were definitely whiter, but maybe not at white as in the picture. But sometimes you could have "blanching" wear part of your gum gets bleached too but dont worry it goes away in like 15mins but my mom had hers done too and she didnt have anything like that and i thought mine stung a little and hers was fine so i guess it depends on the person but afterwards (like the next day) i got mouth sores that took about 4 days to heal that was the only thing that sucked about it.

Had a root canal 7-8 years ago. 2 years ago my tooth started to turn yellow so I had it internally bleached about 10 months ago. The bleaching worked for the time being but now the tooth is starting to turn yellow again! Can I have it bleached again?

Each time the tooth is bleached more tooth structure is removed. This along with the tooth being dehydrated from the root canal and the effects of the bleach itself, weaken the tooth and it becomes more likely to fracture. If the bleaching didn’t maintain the first time I would suggest talking to your dentist about a porcelain crown. Good luck
