Anyone know the average cost of a power bleaching?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I really need to have my teeth whitened, my next dental checkup is not for almost 2 months. I realize that insurance most likely will not cover this procedure, and would like to have a ballpark idea of the cost before I mention it to my dentist.
I meant to have the procedure done in the dentist’s office. I do not want anything to go wrong.

I am interning for a dentist in NYC this summer. First off you should go to your dentist and discuss different options which might suit you better. Laser whitening is a great procedure but it is not always sucessful or has amazing results. There are different options such as a home whitening kit ( not the 40 dollar cheap crest white strips they dont work very well at all, but the trays that your dentist custom makes for you in the office) which are trays that you wear for 7 days they are a little cheaper than laser whitening. The office i work in is very high tech we use the latest technology called ZOOM 3 its really good about 45 min and its 600 dollars, the whitening trays are 250 for the top and 250 for the bottom teeth 500 dollars total. Make sure that when you get the whitening done the dentist uses the actual ZOOM 3 chemicals, because many dentist substitute the gel that is used to whiten for a generic cheaper substance dont be fooled. Yes you are right cosmetic procedures are not covered by the insurance but i strongly recommend a dental cleaning (prophylaxis) before you do the laser whitening its good for your gums and it gives you a clean palette for the whitening to be more effective. Soo good luck and if you have anymore questions you can email me.

How to get dental glue off teeth and make them whiter?

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I just got my braces off and the orthodontist didnt really get all the glue off so how can i get it off? Also, theres a lot of white stuff on my teeth and i cant seem to get that off. Besides bleaching my teeth, what kind of teeth whitening methods or teeth whitening products do you guys/gals recommend? THANKS!

You should have a professional cleaning to remove the cement from the teeth and below the gum line, it’s always recommended after the removal of ortho. The "white stuff" is either plaque or demineralized areas cause by the acid in plaque that is left on teeth too long etching or initiating the decay of these teeth. Plaque can be brushed away, if it’s not brushing off then its demineralized areas. Take care of getting your teeth cleaned and have these "white" areas evaluated first. You can discuss bleaching with the dentist then. He can explain the different methods available. Hope I’ve been of some help and good luck.

additional information: You’ve already had impressions made for your retainers, these same models can be used for bleaching trays to be made from. There is no need to go through the impression process again, nothing has changed (crown work) since these were made. Just ask your orthodontist for them if he didn’t give them to your already.

And thank you Dr. Albert, that is so true, a high speed hand piece isn’t always needed to remove the orthodontic cement.

Best Tooth Whitening Products

Friday, March 5th, 2010

http://www.bestteethwhitening.biz/ – There are a lot of options out there when it comes to teeth whitening. This video covers some of the best tooth whitening products out there.

There is no doubt about it teeth whitening is very important nowadays, for the reason that a stunning mouth full of pearly whites does amazement for one’s looks. But, are all those whitening strips, toothpastes, and dental treatments effective?

Before we proceed on some tips to whitening teeth, let me just say that some stains are not external, because some stains begin from the inside the tooth itself and are related to medications like tetracycline, genetics, and other underlying diseases. In these cases, your dentist will suggest other things you can do to improve the way your teeth look.

Over years tooth whitening has become big business and dentists are definitely not the only ones cashing in. There are many types of over-the-counter products available to help whiten your smile.

The primary categories for tooth whitening products include: Whitening Toothpastes, Mouthwash, Whitening Strips and Gums. These are home options that you can do to make your teeth whiter but some people would opt to go to the dental offices to whiten their teeth.

The in-office teeth lightening procedure works very well. This is the fastest, but most expensive whitening option. Whitening treatments generally improve your teeth’s appearance, but an amazing smile can be accomplished through a much more likely method. While it is well known that everyday flossing, brushing and general teeth maintenance can help keep your teeth and mouth in a healthy state, we can at times forget the significance of what we drink and eat.

The worst enemies that are known to stain our teeth include coffee, red wine, tea, and even in these times, tobacco. In the present day it is easier to get tooth whitening products and bleaching solutions. Experienced dentists are everywhere. In office bleaching may take more than a few minutes and more than a one sitting, but the work is carried out by your dentist.

But if you are the do it yourself type, some of the best teeth whitening products can be bought from any drugstore. Some reported side effect include gum irritation and burns. If you have highly sensitive teeth or have undergone a dental operation recently you should consult your doctor before deciding to get your teeth whiten. Your dentist will then determine what kind of tooth whitener is appropriate for you.

If you feel that the irritation is caused by an allergic reaction to the chemicals, discontinue using the product and confer with a specialist. Whether your favored technique for teeth whitening is in office bleaching or at home whitening, the truth is that there is no longer any reason to put up with stained teeth. With the collection of tooth whiteners in the market, there is every reason in the world to smile.

How much would it cost for dental restoration?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I’ve been grinding my teeth for too long and definitely caused some damage. My teeth are worn and I’ve got some staining that I would like to get rid of (bleaching didn’t work). What procedure(s) would be done, and how much would they cost? Would insurance cover any of it?

IF YOU’RE A GRINDER THE LAST THING YOU NEED IS A PORCELAIN RESTORATION OF ANY TYPE IN YOUR MOUTH.
WHY?
PORCELAIN IS EASY TO CHIP AND BREAK.
YOU NEED GOLD. THIS IS SOMETHING TO LAST A LIFETIME.
HAVE A DENTIST MAKE YOU AN N.T.I. BRUXISM APPLIANCE TO STOP YOUR GRINDING.

Bleaching or Brite smile?

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Which is better, dental bleaching (the one that u get mold of ur teeth from the dentis and then do it at home for few weeks), Brite smile, or the laser whintening?
Even more important, which is safer?

well they say that dental bleaching is the best way to get the whitest teeth.

well the safest is the one done by a proffesional but both are pretty safe.
